Work with the
Immigrant Resource Center
The Immigrant Resource Center specializes in all sorts of projects and cases regarding residents who are transitioning into the citizenship status. They also work on cases of illegal immigrants applying for the residency.
The Immigrant Resource Center is separated into three departments, the Immigration Department, the Education Department, and Community Relations Department. I began working with them in August 2019, and will be highlighting mainly the Education Department which is the department I worked with, along with the Immigration Department which works side by side with the Education department. They have graduated many, many students and have a growing line of interested people looking to take their classes.
The Immigrant Resource Center is a big step forward society-wise, including volunteers in the center involves the community in accepting and normalizing the struggle immigrants go through to reach what others are simply born with, as opposed to making immigrants the enemy of the state. The Center works to integrate and raise awareness while also forming a sense of community and openness once you enter the premises. Overall, the connection between this organization and the UDHR, specifically Articles 15 and 21, is clear and they work hard to make sure to fulfill their requirements. WIthout the Immigrant Resource Center, it would certainly lower the chances of immigrants passing through the naturalization process which would lead to less people being able to live a life free from want and fear.
